Sound insulation can be fitted to any model - I have done this on my 2001 S2, cost about £120 and makes quite a difference (I have one stripped out race car already, don't need the Elise to be the same!). Good choice, the S2 didn't even make the evo top 100 handling cars unlike the S1 with a great showing from all variants :D



Er, I think the listing at number 19 was for "Lotus Elise". The fact that only the data for an S1 was quoted is neither here nor there (see also E-Type, VX220 entries ...

I have a spare, printed copy of both the service notes and parts lists for the Lotus Excel. Copied from my originals and in two binders, they do not include all sections for cars earlier than '86 as I have only owned later cars.

I shall hopefully be at the Buckles on Tuesday so anyone interested ...

Nice one. I only took a few action shots, mostly of my friends baby Elan S2 but this is one of my focus test shots (they got better, honestly!).

I have just fitted carpets to my newly-acquired S2 and it was quite a straight-forward job, if a little fiddly getting to all the bolts. No loose nuts to worry about, though.
And I must say that the car was very comfortable on my 500-mile trip at the weekend, to which the carpetting contributed.

On a rare visit to the office in Manchester today, highlight of the trip was passing a Lotus Cortina rally car on the M62 (white/green flash, roll cage, driver & co-driver names) near Rochdale, in the rain. Fair play, sir!
Plus a couple of Elises, black heading east out of Manchester this morning ...

This has become a regular spot as I'm heading west towards Wakefield in the morning, it's an S2 with hard top and private plate (A-prefix) going eastbound.

Well, I've been hoping to come to the last couple of meetings but my schedule had other ideas. Will make a real effort this month...

Oh, and I saw another S2 on the A614 near J37 of the M62 this evening - green with two yellow stripes. Only caught a glimpse but I assume it was an Elise rather than ...

Thanks guys. Yes, that's my old girl - - photographed for Classic & Sportscar in 2006 (pic taken at Breighton Airfield). Perhaps not the prettiest of cars but that's not really the point - and she's good for taking all sorts down the tip, too!
