Does anyone know of anyone in Yorkshire that is a plastic specialist for resprays? I have an old Elan that I want stripping back for a full respray? I got a quote from an ex Ginetta employee in Hull for £3200 inc VAT. The problem is he doesn't seem too keen to do it now. He also rejects my point that they need low baking before and after paint goes on to get the damp out.
Anyone know anyone?
Cheers,
Richard
back to plastic respray
Thanks for this. I will pay them a visit tomorrow. I had seen them on this site somewhere else but was just a bit concerned that they chaps would be more geared up for modern Lotus accident repair stuff than an old restoration. I guess I shall find out tomorrow.

The did Doug's Elan and made a really nice job. They also painted Dennis' Elise and if you knew how fussy Dennis was you'd understand what I'm getting at. Put it this way, Dennis only washes his cars in filtered water. And I'm not kidding!

Hi There,,,,If you want to try someone more local, then Paul Dilley ltd at Ryehill is highly recommended.

He sprayed my Exige and does a lot of old car restorations and is an expert with fibreglass.

Your best bet is to give him a call, pop round to see his work and premises,he's a very friendly bloke and a perfectionist.richgilb wrote:Paul Dilley...do you know if he has a low bake oven?
Also reasonably priced
Central do many restorations, pretty much created an old bristol recently, starting a morgan soon, while not plastic as mentioned above they have a good understanding of glass fibre etc.

Central showed me a lardy arsed Jag they had just sprayed. It was a really impressive finish, glass-like.....thanks for the advice, i think I will go with him. He wants £4k, so I guess I am paying 800 quid extra for the confidence it will be good....and this does not seem too much extra for that kind of assurance.
When is it going in, I am there just about every week with a car from the fleet, (company car drivers
) or one of my own
,will keep my eye out for it.
Cheers
