I've suddenly started hankering after an Esprit too but couldn't bear to part with the Elise. Saw an article in one of the classic mags this month (read it at Tescos like a Pikey) conclusion was there not a car you should be afraid of and all the alarm about running costs aren't valid.

LOL
After the elise the trip down to donny in the esprit was like driving a merc!! Luxury!!!!
Once it comes back from having the manifold studs and cambelt done I'll take you for a quick blat. Oh all being well the charecoolers might be in as well so it may be a tad more fun (Circa 450bhp and about the same torque I'm hoping).
It will take a bit of getting used to!
Anyway having a V8 in your life brings a certain completeness
(an a thirst for optimax
)
Cheers

Hi Alan, thanx. for the offer,would really appreciate the chance to be part of the test drives!!
Would you mind me asking your opinion if I find a suitable car ( AND THE CASH) as my only expertise is from talking to owners and looking at a few very nice cars and some very rough looking everyday drives!
thanx. Martin

Sure no probs.
Went to have a look at one for a guy in New Zealand (the car was in Grimsby) absolutely fantastic car but he was too slow to sort the deal and the seller sold it to someone else.
The thing with a V8 though is getting it looked after properly. The dog cars tend to be the ones that people buy then fail to look after or run out of money. You have to be prepared for the odd big bill every now and then. (I'm expecting a chunk for the engine coming out to do the studs and while it's out the cambelt and oil/water hoses). However some of the horror stories are exagerated a bit. One guy on the forum used his as a daily driver and racked u 100k miles in it!
Fuel economy is ok. Mid twenties on a careful run and not a lot if driven spiritedly
Cheers
