Hi there, im interested in buying an elise s2 but want the touring option with the better insulation and roof. Did this option come in 2005 or is it available on earlier S2 models, if not can the touring option be added to pre 2005 models any help would be grateful.

What's your budget? If you go for a car that came out of the factory sort of mid 2004 you should find it's got the extra sound proofing. That could mean you going for a Rover-engined Elise or a 111R (Toyota).

Sound insulation can be fitted to any model - I have done this on my 2001 S2, cost about £120 and makes quite a difference (I have one stripped out race car already, don't need the Elise to be the same!). I haven't done anything with the roof yet, but this can be upgraded or replaced. I wouldn't let the lack of the touring option put you off any car - it can all be added as and when required.
