Seen another Lotus in the area?

Was driving to work this morning - J41 roundabout to get on the M1 and collected a Porsche. He ran into my rear drivers-side. Clam bashed in and diffuser/exhaust grill bent. Worryingly, I couldn't open the drivers side door open from inside, but could from the outside...

:(

Only had it for a few months.

The number of people (non of whom stopped) who thought the sight of an Elise and Porsche crashed together was funny...

Bad news, glad you're not damaged.
If it is still, take a photo of it. If it moves, take a photo of it.

Sorry to hear this Rich, glad you are ok though. Cars mend. People don't mend so easily.

I think people who laugh at others misfortune are either jealous (but won't admit it) :mrgreen of other peeps having nice cars, or they cannot afford anything as nice as an Elise or a Porsche, so when they see this happen it makes their day.

A**eholes in my opinion, especially if they don't make sure everyone is ok. What has happened to human kindness, I'm afraid it's all me, me, me, these days.

Small rant over.

Old Lotus don't die they get fixed and if it cannot be fixed with a BIG hammer then you have an electrical problem.

I stood up for an old lady on the Tube last week. The shock on everyones face - you'd have thought I'd dropped my trousers.

The prospect of you dropping your trousers on the Tube is shocking!

Really sorry to hear about your car, Rich. Hope it mends soon, buddy :up

Thanks guys - am getting a quote from Pure Lotus for the repairs tomorrow. In the meantime, should be getting a replacement car tomorrow.

Looking at the door, the handle on the inside just doesn't do anything, but the lock button on the outside does. Maybe this is a broken bit in the door mechanism rather than a worse problem - fingers crossed.

Agree with the jealousy - 7:10 in the morning on a Friday going to the motorway and no-one stopped. Nearly got hit by lorries trying to get past as well!

Yes I agree with all the posts. Sorry to hear about the bump.

The reactions do say a lot about attitudes. :(

RANT no it could get rather long.

Obviousily it is only owners of pedigree cars which have any sence of value :evil

Quick update - still not got the claim sorted, but the guys at Pure Lotus are getting on with my car. In for a respray of the now fixed bumper. Parts (diffuser and exhaust shield) are coming next week. May be sorted by next weekend. Don't fancy driving it back to Wakefield though if this weather doesn't improve (not likely!)

Well, my optimism with the parts ordered from Lotus was a bit too high. Finally got the car back last Saturday :shock

Was great to get back in a proper car (but you forget how noisy they are when you've been used to a 'traditional' car. Anyone know how to add some soundproofing behind the seats?)

When I picked it up form Pure Lotus, they had 2 Force India formula 1 cars from 2009 season. Amazing.... Not sure if I'd get in the cockpit even after the new year's diet!

Soundproofing... give it 30 mins at full chat and you'll find the noise dulls due to the congealed blood in your ears as you get used to it :up

Last week, finally got the news that the claim had been settled in my favour! Took a heck of a battle to get there though - lots of toing and froing with letters; some of the things the other guy said in his defence were amazing, but I'm a bit annoyed that I had to go to such extra lengths to prove that I was in the right - would have expected the insurance people to do more. At one point they said to go 50/50...

Still, with the wonder that is Google maps and a bit of cross referencing with the highway code, was all sorted. Just in the nick of time as it was 2 days until my insurance was due for renewal and with an unsettled claim, it was £500+ higher!

Also had a slight problem in that someone smashed my windscreen :down but it was soon fixed :up then driving home on the motorway a few days later and got a stone chip :cry

I'm hoping the luck evens out and I'll win the lottery soon....
