Please could someone confirm that there is a meet at the Buckles next Tuesday and, if so, who I should look out for to introduce myself and pay my subs.

Cheers

Yes, we're at Buckles on Tuesday 26th. The man for subs is Steve Winteridge. But do introduce yourself to anyone - we're a very friendly bunch. Talking mainly in the car park 'till 8.30 then some slightly more formal talks in the big room 'till 9ish.
The sweep (members only - sorry) on how many Lotus cars will turn up is running from 42 (obviously betting on bad weather) to an over optimistic 94. I have 74 and as I'm in charge of the sweep am very likely to be right ;)

Thanks for the responses. I look forward to seeing you all there.

(Still have to figure how to post pictures without blowing the file size limit - but also need to take some decent ones :D)

Not your subs, eh, Russ. ;)
If it is still, take a photo of it. If it moves, take a photo of it.

Maybe Russ was expecting a more "Fast and Furious" event, with window rattling bass and scantily clad young ladies draped over cars? * Not just a bunch of old chaps stroking their beards and pondering another engine rebuild... ;)

Sorry to disappoint Russ - Even on my first visit when I was still in my mid 20's, I was made to feel very welcome, and found the "old guard" very welcoming and accepting of both me and my "modern" Lotus. In my 6 years as a club member since, it's only got better. :clap I suppose it's all about how an individual goes about trying to integrate themselves into their first event. Did you stand up and do your introduction piece during the "chatty bit" of the meeting? I can't recall.

*Can we have the latter to enhance the "car show" at next months meet please?! :up ;)

Hi Russ, I don't really understand your posting ?

You posted this the first time you came along waaay back in 2007

(Red S2 111S Bald head ) :D

Not new to internet forums but new to this one and as its the 'local' site
I just had to come and see what it was all about. Couldn't stay long as
the girlfriend was cold etc :( .

Any way its great to be back in my second Elise after two years of S2000
ownership.

Russ.
So you popped along, didn't stay, decided not to join (fair enough), had a few posts on here then haven't posted since 2008 and then suddenly you're back. Not sure if the S2000 Yorkshire meetings are a group of people who legendary for their warm welcome but sorry you felt ours wasn't up to scratch. Hope you've still got your Elise and that you got it Honda'd as you'd expressed an interest in.

Fantastic idea Martin :bravo

Russ- like anything in life you get out what you put in. When I joined I was made very welcome but after the introductions it's up to ones own social skills to integrate.

Russ please come back we miss you :up, with your Elise there would have been 69 Lotus cars at the Buckles on Tuesday night and not one was parked up anyone's arse as far as I could see :D

Hello Russ, thankyou for posting up. We're always open to constructive criticism, maybe you could tell us what you expected?
We're never going to please everyone, but a few points in our defence:
We've been running for around 14 years, well respected by The Lotus factory, Classic Team Lotus and other Lotus clubs and Dealers.
Organised hundreds of events, eg European and UK trips, Lotus factory visits, car shows, trackdays ( one in France this weekend as you'd have heard at the meeting)
Raised thousands of pounds for our two nominated charities, Martin House Children's Hospice and the Noddy Appeal for Arthritic Children.
I would guess we have the highest monthly attendance of any Lotus club but we're not here to break records. Many members make a round trip of over a hundred miles to the Buckles so they must think we're doing something right.

You'll have to accept the 'cliquiness', its completely unintentional but you must remember many of our members have forged strong relationships over the years so its only natural they'll want to chat to each other. One or the clubs biggest strengths is that new people say how friendly we are, so sorry if that didn't happen for you. Did you approach anyone for a chat?

So, to repeat, please post up what you would have liked us to do and we'll do our best to please.

By the way, if you can part with £15 to join (which you'd probably get back and more through members discounts and help on the technical forum) you'll have access to the main forum and find out we're pretty normal.

Alan

You don't need to defend NYLOC's record to anyone - so many NYLOC peeps have given their valuable time and effort over the years to make this club the success it is :clap

For someone to come along and make a totally uninformed comment - on someone else's thread mind (Russ you couldn't even be 'arsed' (your word not mine!) to start your own - lazy)

I recall speaking at length with you when you visited the Buckles btw :) - didn't know you, but tried to make you welcome :)

I hope you find your Lotus Club Shangri La - I've found mine :D - greatest bunch of Lotus enthusiasts and folk you could ever wish to meet :bravo

Even the S2 brigade ;)

You get out what you put in :up

Simon the Sycophant :up
