Hey! Newbie to the group.

Right, a while ago I bought an eliseparts decay and MIL emilinator. This has been fine and dandy for a while. However, recently my baby has had trouble idling and been horrendous to drive. Also, throwing up the engine light, going into 'limp mode' and requiring an error code erase to work again. The error that has been coming up is high manifold pressure.

Please, for the love of God. Some one tell me what I can do to sort this. Ideally I'd like to keep my decat but i dunno what to do. Does anyone else have any experience with this or know of a remedy?

Any answers will be amazing.

Many thanks!

Have you stuck the cat back on to see if the decat is the issue? it could be something completely different

Could well be a sensor related fault - I've very much doubt its because of the de-cat. I'd be tempted to take a look at the MAP sensor in the first instance. :up

Wow, so many replies and not a single cocky one. Dare I say this forum is occupied with normal people? :D

Right, it's an 02 plate s2 long tail roof standard 120 hp k series? I dunno if that helps.

I've not tried replacing the cat but I'll def try that first!

Then I'll have a look into the sensor.

I noticed earlier that the fault has gone, but the car is revving to 2krpm and is sucking air horrendously whilst doing it. Then after a while it calms itself down. It sat at about 3.5k rpm for about 40 seconds upon start up then dropped right down and I had to hold the throttle to prevent the car from stalling itself.

Bear in mind I've not touched the ecu, is it just having a paddy with itself and trying to figure out what the feck has happened to it?

Hope everyone else managed to enjoy their cars this weekend!

Have you done the idle control valve reset, might help sort the issue with the dodgy tick over

With your extra information, it's quite likely that it's your Throttle Position Sensor that's either out of calibration, or on its way out... I had to replace mine twice over the lifespan of my early S2 (same age/spec as yours). It's quite a common sensor fault.

Symptoms often include idle issues ( poor, high , slow return, hunting or hesitation in throttle response) and Misfire...

To recalibrate:
For the early S2, switch the ignition to position 2 (on) without starting the engine. Press and release the throttle 5 times in succession (or better still, manually rotate the throttle butterfly by hand from the engine bay, from fully closed to fully open five times). This enables the ECU to enter it's 'learning mode' (closed throttle reference learning), and let your ECU understand the TPS upper and lower parameters that it has to work with.

I'd not bother with the CAT swap until you've tried this. It would probably be a waste of your time!

If you need to test a 'known good' TPS sensor, I have a couple in the garage from my car, pre Honda conversion. welcome to swap it out and give it a try.
