Seat retrim

Hi to all once again.

So unfortunately a few people have recently jumped into drivers seat of my car (just to see if they can get in). However unfortunately when doing so holes have appeared where they have scraped some of the fabric off (foam underneath included). Its only the drivers side and all the rest of the seat and passenger seat are perfectly fine. I'm looking at just getting that one section redone if possible. Looking for advice as to who to go to and potential cost. I doubt it would cost much for such a small area to be retrimmed.

Lesson learnt, do NOT let people into drivers side of car if they do not have a clue how to get in. Unfortunately it would seem most people still try to drag their body into the drivers seat using the corner of the seat to push up against. This is what is creating the ripping of material.

I saw 'Jonnyboy' had some seats re trimmed recently. He might be able to offer some advice. Maybe drop him a PM.

jct use pickerings for all leather work and re-trims ect..

Do you always push your seat right back when getting in/out, that helps reduce ware (would not have stopped this though )

I don't even touch that side of the seat. I move my body around that and yes push the seat back.

Unfortunately people who have gotten in recently did not do the same and a small tear has then become several big tears as family members don't seem to have a clue how to get in even with me having given advice and moving the seat to back rail. I have subsequently told them they will not be getting in the car again.

I just wish people would be aware of how to look after cars properly.

Byron/others, would it be worth me getting the edge trims replaced with some tougher material such as leather. I have about £200 spare if required to have them retrimmed. Not needing the whole seats doing just the side trims. Hopefully get in touch with Pickering for a quote. It's a good hours drive there and back so would rather have a rough idea of cost.

Don Barr in Hull off Hessle Road I used to knock around with his two lads. If you drive along Hessle Road from the city centre as you go over the flyover towards Dairycoates look left and you will see their workshop as they have the name on the back of it facing the fly over. Take the left at the bottom of the flyover and you will come to the workshop. Probably one of the best in the country. Their invisible mending has got to be seen to be believed, well actually you can't see it.

Ah well I'm originally from hull and still work there so that's a brilliant tip. Just looked them up and looks promising indeed. Have you had much done by them yourself? Hopefully they are affordable for me.

Mike I have had a few bits and pieces. Their work is second to none. I don't recommend people unless I have used them or seen their work first hand. The company has been around for well over 50 years. When I met the sons their dad started off by running his business from a small workshop at back of the house.

Actually didn't realise my dad's also used him to detrimental things on his MGTF.

I've had work done by them on a number of vehicles including one of the Elise's don't think I've ever considered them cheap but never so expensive that I'd not go back.......
