£180 quote from them in the end. For that one section. Is that over expensive in your opinion based on images shown of damage?

I asked if this involves seat removal to which the answer was a simple 'yes', been very abrupt with responses to me unfortunately. Had that not been the case my next question was going to be to ask if I bring the seat in already removed, if that will affect the original quote. Afraid to ask now. Shame really as they are ideally located for me to use them.

It is a 10 minute job to remove the seats with the correct tools being a 17mm ring spanner for the seatbelt and a 1/4" socket set from halfords (really useful kit for the Elise/general use
) for the Allen head bolts

Oh I know. I've watched some how to videos as well. If only a 10 minute job then it probably wouldn't affect the quote too much. I may give pickerings a call and see what kind of quote they can give.

Hi Byron. I tried David @ Pickering's and although they can retrim the damage and for a reasonable price, they can only do it with with 'black hooding' because they don't have any of the hard wearing grey fabic.Byron wrote:Beaten me to it..Ishy wrote:I've used Pickerings in Bradford before with good results![]()
jct use pickerings for all leather work and re-trims ect..
this is getting rather annoying and surprisingly difficult to sort out. Don Barr in Hull will do it but not cheap and Pickering's can do and guy seems nice enough but do not have the keprotec schoeller fabric needed.
Can anyone else recommend an alternative please?
Any help appreciated as always.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike, there's a company in York called Seat Surgeons, I've heard good reports from various friends & clients but it looks like they specialise in leather repairs & retrims from their website.
Maybe worth a call, if they can't help they'll probably have some contacts.

Sometimes people just have bad days, everyone has them and perhaps Barrs had no end of time wasters on the phone and a backlog of work due to the time wasters or what ever else had peed him off. Granted they should keep their cool but when your self employed and you have everything to do then things can get a little fraught. If he is close to your location and he has the material you need to make a good repair and if he can do the work and if the price is reasonable and if it can be undertaken in a time span you are happy with why not give him a chance. Tell him he upset you the way he spoke to you and you might get a bit of discount. If it was one of the Barr brothers you spoke with they are normally like two teddy bears

Haha will not ask for discount though May ask if they can price match another quote. £150 including vat would be reasonable I'd say. It was Helen I spoke with.
I guess people have bad days especially if busy and previous people have wasted their time. I'll perhaps call and see what options they can give on lead time for work.
