Haven't seen Sooty for a while
I don't think you can kill Sooty, he'd just come back bigger and stronger.
Did you meet Adrian Newey while you were there Mr.Ryder?

No blood letting.

Hi All, I live up by Thirsk and am the new owner of an Elise S2, one of the early cars. Love it already and will try to make it to the next meeting to join up. A couple of questions, any opinions on the cooling by passes. I'm thinking of getting a pressure release thermostat form Elise Parts in preference to the QED remote thermostat. The bills for my car show 2 HGF's in the last 5 years and I would like to avoid a third! Also any opinions on brake pads?

This appears to be an excellent club, but where is there a means of e-mail contact in this day and age? I am about to embark on the restoration of my Lotus Elan Sprint 5 that I have owned since 1972! It's in a state and it definitely won't be ready until next year. I will endeavour to try and turn up for one of the meetings but weeknights are a problem and would have preferred to join online/by post and have contact with you for advice on restoration specialists/parts, etc.
Best regards,
Colin Robertson

Thanks for the kind words, Colin. We only require that people turn up the once to join, from then on renewals can be posted or paid online. The reason is that when we did open up to people joining without turning up, we found quite a few people joining simply for the discounts and we're not really about that - we're more a social club where people get together. The forum is here to serve our members and act as a first line of contact with the outside world.
Hope that helps, we'd love to welcome you at a meeting.
Paul.

Many thanks, Paul - will endeavour to get to a meeting. I assume there is one coming up next week (April 26). Where do you meet - in the car park or do you hire a room in the pub? Who do I make contact with? I think the pub's YO23 3PW postcode would be handy on the website.
Regards, Colin.

Correct
csrobertson wrote:Where do you meet - in the car park?
That's where it starts, especially if there's daylight and no rain.
csrobertson wrote:or do you hire a room in the pub?
Yes, that too. We have a talking bit and a raffle which - we recently decided - will start at 8.30 prompt to conclude by 9.00ish so more time to talk Lotus in the car park
csrobertson wrote:Who do I make contact with?
Feel free to introduce yourself to anyone in the car park. As you're doing up an Elan Sprint you might do better to target the members with beards. In the pub you'll want Steve Winteridge in order to join and if you stay for the talking bit you'll be asked to introduce yourself and tell us what car you've got. If you admit to being from Barnsley you have to 'high six' the whole room.
We don't give out the postcode: it's a test...

Not sure that I'll feel free to chatting up anyone in the car park - I think that has another name other than Lotus enthusiast!
Thankfully, I don't sport a beard or come from anywhere near Barnsley, whether six fingered or web-footed. The North Yorks border has obviously slipped down a bit since the last time I looked.
You're right it is a test - sure you're not the military wing of the Masons? I will see whenever I can get there.
Regads, Colin
