Yes, dropped it off last Saturday.....seem like really eager people. Great recommendation. I had been to about 7 places prior to feeling comfortable enough to put the tired looking old dear in the hands of a stranger
When it is done I shall join this club - looking forward to some healthy caustic banter regarding the fact (yes fact, not argument) that the old designs are cooler than the new ones!
Should be ready in 6 weeks........

Popped in with a nother one of the cars from my fleet (taken out by a bis while parked

)
And what did I spot......
A naked body, down to the glass fibre and looking good
Are we ok to post photos I can take when I am back up late this week?

No problem - I would be keen to see myself. Neil rang to say it was stripped to plastic this morning and that I should get some photos before the paint goes on - and could he have some cash!!

Yes, he was waxing on about his Elan Sprint (again) yesterday. His welding is fantastic and the stuff he fabricates look like original parts. I don't think he's enjoyed rubbing the +2 down past the gel coat though!

Interesting point...I said to Neil he must be getting really fed up with doing the sanding. He said in reply that he was enjoying it and that all his employees loved every stage of preparing a car. 4 coats is a bit hardcore for me. Anyway, it is nearly done (hopefully not past the gel coat!) - shame to see a smash on the wing. It felt like finding out that your missus' ex-boyfriend had been slapping her about.
Thanks for the photo uploads, it is hard to get across more than once every couple of weeks.

Good thread this... and it's encouraging that Central are ok with pics being taken of work in progress then posted on a public forum.
Are you going to tell us what colour it's going to be and is it a factory one?

Watching this thread with interest too - how bad was the bodywork before taking her for the respray? - do you have any recent photos before her going to the bodyshop?
Notice you have a Zetec lurking under the bonnet

Actually the body is excellent except for the crushed corner of the passenger side wing.
The paint was not great so there was no desire to take photos. But you can see it in its former glory in a Practical Classics feature from August 2003. Spyder have got a link to the pages. Mine is on page 2 and 4 (the claret and silver one).

I am really sad and bought a mint copy off ebay which cost 8 quid all in.
Yes, it is a Zetec. I notice you have an early Elise. If it is standard, I look forward to whooping your ass when I am back on the road!

Oh, and the colour will be ice blue, but probably not the Elise S2 ice blue. Think that one seems a bit grey and dull in certain lights. Leaning more towards a slightly brighter one, perhaps the blue on the MX5 (from 08 onwards I think). Stuff the original colours, there is not one that I really like.

I have a +2 (owned for 20 years - off road for the last 13) somewhere that at some future date will require a respray - bodywork unfortunately is not in the best of shape. Current colour is extremely faded Porsche Orange
