Just to say we got a Focus ST3 from Cliff Dickenson, nice friendly family Ford Dealer in Winsford. ( not Ford of Winsford btw).
Meets all Steve's criteria and goes quite quickly
Had a good chat with one of the bosses who runs an MGB in fair weather and rallies a Mk1 Cortina GT
Dennis, you were right about no spare...but we covered the cost of a new one with a bit of haggling

The boot is much bigger without the spare, so we never actually carried it in the car, instead we have some of this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SLIME-SMART-S ... 2319054a07" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I also carry one in the elise as this stuff washes out with water instead of writing your tyre off.
I also ended up buying a 2nd hand alloy and tire (like new) for about £100 instead of relying on the space saver, the idea being if i do have a puncture i will not be held to ransome by Kwikfit or however on a saturday morning selling me a overpriced tyre etc.
I actuall had to use the spare rim and tyre the other week so money well spent
http://www.focusstoc.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is worth a look, sky insurance also give good rates to members
