Watched Sundays Prgram re the mintted sheff of the tele entering the said race in a £600K car that broke down on day 1
Due to his poor showing he had to pay for a meal for a few other entrants (he lost a bet)
Anyway in the closing scenes (the said meal) outside is a 340R W209RAA any idea whoes it is?

From looking at his garage it is the cheapest thing in there (I'm so jealous, have you seen his missus)

Missed the last 10mins as I recorded it and it was running late.
Maybe I'll just enter next year instead

I'd be mighty upset to have engine failure so early on after all the money he spent. Sound like it was all a bit of a rush and he didn't do any pre-race testing so more fool him. Lovely looking machine though.
I reckon our cars, modern and classics, could cope with that ok
I'll see if I can get Mr Thomson to enter one of his motors next year
I missed first few minutes too, Steve.

I think he said they'd only clocked 200 miles before the event which I suppose means the rebuilt engine was barely run in. It all seemed a bit rushed, I agree, although I reckoned that was all a bit of "production hype"
'Will we be ready in time?' type stuff. Just like they were hyping up whether the 2 girls were going to get on or end up in a cat fight...

or whether or not he'd let his co-driver drive
But apart from that, some beautiful cars and a fantastic event. Anyone need a driver for their multi-million-pound show piece next year?

I've been looking forward to that programme for ages but didn't enjoy it as much I should have. He seemed to be very touchy even before the engine died, pity they didn't follow Nick Mason on one of his runs.
Obviously the entrants need a big pile of money to enter but the funding issues dominated the programme, that would have been OK if he was trying to do it on a shoestring or had enough money not to worry.
Nice motors though, be nice to be
following the route in Italy during the event.

For those who missed this, I think it is repeated on Sunday.

I thought the 200 miles was including the miles driven that day, not being run-in crossed my mind also.
Something else I noticed was, the car was the most expensive thing he had ever bought so how much was his huge house then???(jealous again)

An even greater crime then if the 200 miles included the first day's run!
I also thought the house must have been a real bargain if it cost less than his car.
