seat removal

Hi

Quick question

I've been thinking about carpeting my S1 out and just have a question about removing the seats

Am I right in thinking that unscrewing the seat runner bolts is as simple as it sounds,

I'm not going to unscrew the bolt and hear the other end drop am I? Is it a nut and bolt or just a bolt that fastens to the floor pan?

I'm not very hands on with the car so apologies if its a dumb question

My understanding is that there is some sort of captive nut so you shouldn't have a problem. One of mine was loose and when I mentioned it to Danny at Pure Lotus he just tightened it up without needing to get underneath.

I have just fitted carpets to my newly-acquired S2 and it was quite a straight-forward job, if a little fiddly getting to all the bolts. No loose nuts to worry about, though.
And I must say that the car was very comfortable on my 500-mile trip at the weekend, to which the carpetting contributed.

Rivnuts in the floor so you can undo them no problems

Don't stick them down with anything or you may get ali corrosion issues, like the recent footwell notice

you'll also have a nightmare getting to the rear left pax seat bolt, you need a really long ball ended allen key

Makes it easier if you have a socket set that includes allen bits and a long extension even for the easier to reach bolts

You don't *need* a ball ended allen key but it will help. I think I used a regular allen key and a ring spanner then a bar to turn the spanner - you can improvise. It's not a difficult job, it would be a doddle with a 24" allen key!
