Martin,
I think the push rod engines have a smaller bowl but obviously they can be modified.
Have you tried lotuselandotnet?
Cheers

John, I have a freshly built 1700 crossflow with lots of mods to make 130-140 bhp but has a rear bowl sump on, so need to change that and front seal housing, I thought Ebay would have been the place but it seems these sumps are as rare as hens teeth !. just about have all the bits I need, still looking for suitable exhaust manifold to clear chassis

Martin,
Arr I see. Can't the sump be cut and shut to make it a front bowl? You'll also need the oil pickup to go with the sump.
The manifold will only need and bit of modding.
Cheers
John

Martin,
You buy a pickup pipe but obviously this is a low budget build.
I'm pleased you're nearly there.
Cheers
John

Martin,
Burton's and QED sell them for a twink. If you've now got a front bowl I would have thought they would have fitted even if the sump is a little narrower.
Edit, well I assume you need a push in pickup pipe.
Cheers
John

Thankyou John, I will check out Burtons and QED.
What started as a "budget" engine to "get me going" while sourcing parts for a twink has turned into an expensive exercise, the parts required to build a reliable 130hp xflow are no longer "cheap" as I remember them in my Escort days, camshafts and followers, steel components etc all cost a fortune now but having started down the route I intend to finish it now................if a good twink turns up then this is a very sellable engine so will only be my time lost.

Yeah right....£100+ for a pick up pipe
Think I could make one in solid silver cheaper
