Eclat owner wanting shut wrote: Hi, dont know if you can help me but I really need to get rid of this Lotus Eclat 2.2 and would be gratefull if you could assist in finding its new owner! Here is a copy of what I have posted in several lotus forums:
The car belonged to my Uncle since it was approximately 1 year old. Unfortunately he died a few weeks ago and the car is in the way.
It was last taxed in 1999 and has not really been run much since. Just started the odd once or twice but never actually moved.
My Aunt is having the roof re done on all the house and garage as it is literally 'dropping in'!
My son and I intended to go down with a trailer to collect the car and restore it on our driveway to at least 'reasonable' condition. Upon closer inspection the brakes are completely seized on and the car will not move. We have tried pushing and pulling loads - No chance! We then tried jacking the car up to hit the calipers etc to try to free the brakes - no joy.
The car has a good interior (black leather with cloth centres on the seats. No rips/tears - just could do with a bit of leather feed)
The engine is the 2.2 ford block and does turn when jump started, but will not fire - bear in mind the car hasnt been started in a number of years and the carbs will be all bunged up with 'gone off' petrol. My guess is that the car would start if the carbs were cleaned out and refitted.
The body obviously has no corrosion with the car being fibreglass but around the front area where the pop up lights are the gel coat has bubbled quite badly. Other than that the body is generally quite good although I must stress: Its not perfect!
In our opinion the car is good for spares, BUT could be a restoration project for someone with a lot of time on their hands.
The car is in Barnsley in West Yorkshire and NEEDS TO BE COLLECTED ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY (24/11/07 or 25/11/07) AS BUILDERS ARE COMING TO START WORK ON THE ROOF! I MUST STRESS THAT WHOEVER WANTS THIS CAR AND MAKES ARRANGEMENTS TO MEET ME AT MY AUNTS HOUSE TO COLLECT THE CAR MUST BE RELIABLE AND I WILL EXPECT THEM TO TURN UP AND TAKE THE CAR THAT DAY.
Whoever collects the car will need a low loader with enough power to drag the car from the garage with its tyres screaching. They will also need an electric winch that is powerful enough to drag the car up onto the low loader!
JUST TO CLARIFY:
THIS CAR IS FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!
Pics on request as I cannot upload for some reason! My Wife's email address: [email protected]}}
Even if the car is no good to you - think of family, friends, etc who may want to take the car away!
I really would appreciate it if you could put the message out to Lotus owners in North Yorkshire as (as mentioned) my Aunt needs it out of the garage for the roof to be re done.
Thanks very much in advance, Paul
