Hi Nick
Twas a very good day indeed, and good to meet up with Norloggers
Weather bright but a tad chilly. Had some great laps in 3 different cars, including my own.
The Lambogenie racer took some stick didnt it, other than the lunch break it was out on circuit almost constantly. Certainly a testimony to our cars abilities. Did anyone keep a tally of laps ?
Thanks for the picture link, a shame I hadnt washed the car though .
Did anyone get a pic of me out on track

Hi Steve,

Not washed your car, it was gleaming compared to mine. I looked at mine before I put it in the garage and the sils were coated in cows**t :o

Glad you enjoyed the day, it certainly gives you a good insight to the track with the instructor and you had the added advantage of using your own car for the last stint, I think the grin on your face when you got back in the garage said it all :D .
What sound level did you get on the sound check ? and what exhaust do you have as a matter of interest ?

I had a chat to the Lambogenie boys and the Race prepped car we used was standard apart form the roll cage and safety bits and the A048's so for 120ghp it did dam good. How did your compare to it ?

I think the lap count would be in the order of 160 ish for the day, 10 ish per session, 8 sessions morning and 8 afternoon so yes I think we hammered the car pretty good and it survived which as you say is acredit to the car design, and it was a K series as well.

Hope to see you again at some meets.

Soundcheck was a bit of a non event, as my car runs the standard N/A exhaust, and should therefore easily pass a 98dba let alone 105. Added to that, as my car had been stood most of the day, by the time I got to the check, it wasnt warmed up, so was showing me a red warning light around 5k revs. At that point the guy checking said something like: well its not going to knock any birds out of the trees, so off I went.

Difficult to do a comparison, certainly my car had more power than the standard Elise S, especially when I was keeping it higher up the rev range, and I could be more aggressive with it thru the chicanes. To be fair I wasnt that bothered by the top end, and going flat out down the straights. I dont know if I drove the race Elise faster than mine, the speedo on the Elise wasnt working, and my Exige had the top on (take note please Pesky), so would likely not have felt as fast. I was more aggressive again in the race Elise.

One thing I was looking out for was my perceived understeer on the Exige. Some of you will know I have been harking on about this since I bought it, as I really want it to turn in sharper like my S1 Elise did. Given the higher speeds than used on the road, I dont now think there is anything wrong with the geometry. I just need to drive it harder.

The other thing about the day which I will never forget is the bend called Dentons (the one before Cascades). As a spectator, this doesnt exist, and the other thing a spectator doesnt see is that it is blind over a crest, so it took me most of the day to have the bottle to have my right foot planted over that crest. A real leap of faith.

I'm still not sure I am worthy of my Exige, and it is somewhat wasted on me, but I love it.
I just need to get it out on track more.

Well done for getting out there Steve - as we said, it is just that your Exige needs quite a lot of stick on the roads, especially in lower temperatures, just to get the A048's working.

Congrats on your big improvement during the day, so a little birdie told me.

Thanks for that Russ, I was aware of an improvement from my first couple of laps, but never sure that I improved after that.
And realistically, all I was out to do was to enjoy myself (and I did .... lots), not to post the fastest time.
I know you're not meant to do timing, but dont you have some gismo in your cars so you can analyse things later ?
I dont think I've caught the track day bug too badly yet.
