Hi everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm looking for an Elise S2 111s (although other variants considered) and have around £13-14k to spend, depending on mileage/condition. Going to take a look at the black 111S at Pure Lotus tomorrow (previously owned by a couple of forum members here - Paul S and lastresort) but if anyone is thinking of selling this side of Christmas (or even in the New Year) feel free to drop me a line.

I'm new to Lotus, but a couple of friends of mine have previously owned Elise/Exige/VX220s so have been hankering after one for a while now! Hopefully the test drive won't disappoint ;)

Am based down in Sheffield so not a million miles away for viewings, etc.

Welcome to the forum, good choice of car ;)
Hopefully you'll land something and manage to make it to one of our meetings - 4th Tuesday of every month except December at the Buckles Inn.

New to Lotus - we've all been there. What's your car history?

Thanks Paul - have owned quite a few Minis (three classic and two BMW) including a supercharged JCW which is probably the car that's put the biggest smile on my face so far. Got a feeling the Elise is going to take that title pretty soon though ;)

Also owned a Honda S2000 a couple of years back. Currently driving a Mini Cooper SD (company car) but the lease is up in the New Year and I'm desperate to get back into something with a petrol engine!

Cheers Steve - how's the Elise on the pot-holed Sheffield roads?!! Think I'll be taking diversions to avoid some roads!

Oh yes. I've had mine 10 years and you only need to miss driving for a week or two to get back in and think you're back in a go-kart. Just go steady & keep it on the black stuff in the winter :bravo

Test drove the 111S at Pure this morning - certainly lived up to expectations! Road was a bit greasy so didn't push it to much, but was blown away by the handling, the acceleration and the noise (got a sports exhaust). Now I really know I need to have one!!

The only thing that worried me was a fairly big crack on the front clam (just underneath, behind the number plate). The guys at Pure said they're going to fix it as part of the prep work but others have told me to steer well clear if there's any clam damage whatsoever. What are your thoughts?

All seemed mechanically sound, just perhaps a little bit high on the mileage and price fronts.
