Hi All,

I'm from Phil, I live near Hull. I've been looking for a Lotus Exige S2 for a while now. I'm looking for a red one with black panels/spoiler. It also has to be supercharged.

I currently have a Silver Mercedes SLK55 V8 AMG. The reason I want a Lotus - I'm getting bored of an automatic gearbox, I don't need any extras and I want something that will be excellent in corners. So a Lotus fits my spec perfectly. I also love the look of the Exige.
However I have plenty of questions like will I miss the V8 sound and the huge torque etc. I love driving so the handling is more important. I think power to weight ratio they work out the same. So that's where I'm at.

Any advice or help would be brilliant? Also how do I join?

Cheers :bravo
Cheers,

Phil.

If you love the torque of a V8, you might not enjoy a 1.8 supercharged Exige. They like to be revved up to around 7-8k rpm. It took me some getting used to but then you become addicted to the scream! :bravo

V6 Exige has plenty of torque low down.

I reckon you'd be more suited to the V6

Hi Phil, I suggest you test drive a few different models initially, you may be pleasantly surprised by the smaller engines and the V6 is there if you need the extra grunt. If you're a keen driver you'll quickly find that NOTHING compares to a Lotus for steering and handling if it's properly set up. Lotus is obviously a low volume manufacturer and they do have occasional build quality issues but you'll be driving something that's pretty rare as a bonus. It'll certainly be different to your Merc ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I had an Audi TT 3.2V6 before the Merc, I do like a V6.
However my girlfriend has the Audi TT 1.8T 225BHP. I enjoy driving that more than the Merc, shouldn't be saying that about an AMG but it's true. I love going through the gears, through the corners etc. Any opportunity I drive it :D The Merc is good and sounds good. The power is amazing. But I'm bored of just pressing the accelerator.
For my price range, I don't really think the 3.5V6 is an option, I personally love the look of the 1.8 S2. I think I would really suit it and love driving it. I think a Friend of mine is on here, he has a Lotus Exige 260RGB, I went out in that as a passenger, amazing, loved the sound and everything about it. It would be nice to have something more unique too. I would say I have 25-30k to spend. I am looking for a low mileage and like I said a specific spec.
I think there is only 5 or 6 on Auto Trader at the moment. Any other places to look? I've looked at all the sites online.

Cheers :D

Good budget. I'd be going for a 2008-2010 Supercharged car :bravo

Go have a chat with Jon Seal at Wakefield. It'll give you the opportunity to see a few cars in one place and you'll get an idea of what is achievable.

Thanks :D
I need to test drive one. I'm just waiting for the right one to come up. Do any of you live near Hull? Would love to see another Exige in the flesh.
Also how do I sign up properly on here?

Cheers.

A few members out your way but your best bet to see several cars is to get along to the next NYLOC meet.

4th Tue of each month, so the next is 28th March at Buckles Inn A64. You can join up at the meeting.
Sadly can't make that one but will hopefully see you, and your car at another :up

I wouldn't bother waiting for the right one to come up, just go and test drive one at a dealer. You might hate it :shock :shock

Cheers I've requested to join the Facebook group. I went out as a passenger in Mark's (hesslenaylor) Elise, was really good and thanks again.

I've been trying to look at other colours as there's more variety. But I keep getting dragged back to the red with black side vents/spoiler.

I know I've got to be patient and wait for the right one. It's getting difficult and frustrating now but good things come to this who wait :D

I'll also try getting to one of the meets. Cheers.
Cheers,

Phil.
