Hello there,

I hope this is OK to post but i'm having a few problems with my elise and i thought this would be a good place to ask. Last year i picked up an S1 111s as a replacement for a caterham roadsport and was looking forward to planning some trips with it this year. Unfortunately there have been a few teething issues with the car...

Initially the gear change cable snapped, but i got that fixed, and then the battery went flat, and the cable to open the bonnet snapped when i tried to open it to get at the battery. I read that i could get access to the latch from underneath by removing the front drivers wheel and in the process of doing that, one of the lightweight wheel nuts sheared off (see photo attached).

Unfortunately because i can't get at the battery, i can't get the car started and i cant get it to a garage. I've tried a couple of mobile technicians who claim to be able to remove stuck wheel nuts but they haven't got back to me. Does anyone know of a company that can come and get the wheel nut off so i can finish fixing the latch? I'm based in the Sheffield area, so ideally someone not a million miles away. Failing that any suggestions before i start the tedious process of drilling that stud out?

thanks

Nathan

Hi! Sorry to hear that you have had so many problems.

Would bump starting it work? Push the car quick, mate sat inside with ignition on, have it in first gear, clutch down, then raise slowly when moving at speed. Just don’t stall before you get to the garage!!

Hi Keith- thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately the way out of the garage is uphill, so pretty hard to get a jump start, i think i will have to either find someone to come and remove the sheared nut or drill it out myself.

thanks

What a wonderful advert, Keith! :D :clap

Keith's right, not that you wouldn't get help on the forum but it's just that our WhatsApp Community a more popular format for social interaction. It's a good time of year to join the club too - by joining now you're effectively getting a month free as the renewal would be end of March 2027. No pressure :lol
