Title says it all really.

when the rear bearing failed it wore down the part of the hub that presses into the bearing, I was just about to press the hub into the new bearing and found the hub was knackered as well (slack on 1/2 the bearing inner). Lucky I sussed it in time, If I'd pressed it in, I probably would have had to knacker a brand new bearing to sort it!

it's the rear, but front and rear are identical....so if anybody's got one lying about give us a yell

Cheers

Christ on a bike!
:shock
I've just seen one on eliseparts, it's 105 quid and apparently much cheaper than OE.....It's 2 quids worth of pig iron....I'm off for a lie down!

cheers smiffy, might be worth a try I guess...., but from past experience, they tend to have a knack of knocking about 10% off new price.

thinking of going for the eliseparts option! still a bit squiffy from last night so 105 quid seems reasonable! :beers :woohoo

is the hub specific to the elise ?

might be worth finding out if its used on something else. If its the same as the VX, then Vauxhall parts are loads cheaper.

"SidewaysMatt" on seloc seems to know a few "common" parts... may be worth a pm & ask...

it's an MGF part I guess. but that's not too usefull either 'since there's no rover dealers around anymore!

the original part is shite anyway compared to the hardened EliseParts ones yes? Or am I thinking of something else?

try 08706091111 - Rover parts depot, I've used them a few times they have the MGF manual on-screen and are usually quite helpful

Rover parts are still available, people like Evans Hallshaw continue to hold parts in stock. I agree on the breakers knowing how to charge just under new prices but think it's worth a phone call to check.
