Hi, :wavey
I'd like to know if anyone in NYLOC knows anything about the history of this car (and if any other modifications have been made). Its up for sale in the Midlands area but has a YN numberplate so I assume it's previous owner may be from these parts and possibly even a NYLOC member.

This car

Yes I know its down as sold... we've put down the deposit and will be test driving it at the weekend and I thought it prudent to check with folks in the know before I commit to anything (and so I can get the insurance sorted properly... if the car is everything we think it is!)

We've recently driven an (S2) Elise S at Hethel and we've also recently had a test drive of another (S2 )111S which was priced a little on the rich side so we are aware of the sublime differences between an Elise and my current car...

Any help gratefully recieved!
Cheers
Mike

I don't know the car, hopefully someone will but £16k for a 111S is a tad on the expensive side.
I know it's a very late one but at that sort of money I'd possibly be looking at a 111R. I think the price needs to be down a grand at least, even from a dealer - and I'd be pushing for £14k, it's the right time of year to be buying.

If it has 30k on the clock, Glass's says:-
Excellent condition: £14550
Average condition: £13150
Below average condition: £11550

That's trade, obviously and they got to make summat! I guess it depends how well they're shifting cars at the moment ;)

I agree it is a little over the odds and we will obviously try to knock it down a little as the part-ex quote for my car isn't the best but it seems that no-body really wants it.

We shall see what we can do :fingers

I can tell you this much - you won't regret buying the 111S, I've had mind over 5 years and 45,000 miles and it's the first time I've owned a car and stopped looking at other cars on the road thinking 'I fancy one of those next'. Even after 5 years.

So, as a good friend of mine always says... it's only money.
Buy it :bravo

I must be quite like your good friend as that's my attitude!
I, well me and my girlfriend have saved up for this for a while and as long as we find a good car at a reasonable price we're getting it. I was hooked on the Lotus brand from an early age as my mum's auntie had/has (although I think she's given it to her son now) a 70's Elan. Being a 70's car the colours weren't so great (beige/brown) but even just to sit in that car made me say 'yes, one day I will own my very own Lotus'.
You never know we might end up buying that one off him as he's more into Norton Motorbikes than cars (although he's a mechanic by trade).

Hope you can sort out a good deal, the Elise looks great and best colour too! :bravo

I might have been interested in your Fiesta if we'd been a few more months into 2010 :)

I can only echo the sentiments above. It was 21 years before first drawing a Lotus in my school book and buying mine. Worth the wait - the Elise is a fabulous tool and the most wonderful companion. The car you've found looks great, but worth looking out for a 111R at those prices if you think you might enjoy the cammy delivery.

I don't think we'll be down to Buckles this time, I think it'll just make the week drag and us more jealous
Waiting is painful, that's a fact!

Maybe next time though

Does this imply that you've done the deed, parted with your hard-earned money, and entered the ranks of the elite?

Well done if you have ... and even if you haven't come say Hi at The Buckles tonight anyway. It'll only convince you that you've been drooling over the right car! :bravo

Most people are very surprised by how many of us turn out and what the format of the evening entails (format???). I doubt you'd regret driving to meet us all, you would be made very welcome and there would be no obligation to join (though I would avoid the bloke with the autumn gold Exige if I were you, he can smell money). By joining you'll get access to the rest of the forum (there's loads more) and get to meet some weird interesting Lotus owners, complete with all their Lotus lectures stories.
